The cone nebula and Christmas tree cluster and associated fox fur nebula are in Monoceros constellation about 2600 light years distant in the Orion arm of the Milky Way. Hubble's variable nebula (NGC 2261) is in 2 O'Clock position relative to the cone nebula.
