Journey
by Serena Craft
There’s laughter in
my soul.
Laughs, giggles,
and belly clutching squeaks
Orange pop, coffee,
skittles, and jellybeans
Afternoon talks
about future, past, and current dreams
Endless
possibilities.
There’s silence in
my soul.
The quietness of
disbelief and the torture of the truth
The emptiness is
deafening, overwhelming
I stand amidst a
swirl of darkness,
desperately clutching the hands of loved ones and family.
Endless
silence.
There’s a river in
my soul
Filled with tears
of desperation and loss
It rages and turns
in its quest for answers
Water falling in
hopes of finding the peace in another day
The anguish is
released, rushing to the ocean.
Endless
grief.
There’s a whisper
in my soul.
It tells of light
and dark and better days
Family, friends,
and bonds forged stronger through pain and love
It whispers its
love for the divine and gently dries my eyes
There’s forgiveness
in my soul.
There’s a promise
in my soul.
It speaks of a soul
less hurt and a heart less ravaged,
of happier times, laughter, and cherished memories.
It speaks of a
friend whose love and laughter will be held closely and remembered forever
It promises of a
life deeply touched and awakened.
Endless
love.
Endless possibilities.
