NGC 4565 (Needle Galaxy) in Coma Berenices

     

NGC 4565 is a spiral galaxy viewed edge-on approximately 39 million light years from the Sun and 192 thousand light years in diameter. The galaxy has prominent dust lanes and at magnitude 9.2, it is easy to pick out with even small telescopes.
