Camp Duckadang managers Ian and Sue Horne Ian and Sue were generous and friendly hosts for QLD Astrofest and went out of their way to make Keith and I feel welcome when we arrived a few days early. They cooked up burgers and steak sandwiches with chips for lunches and dinners for attendees who weren't inclined to cook in the excellent kitchen facilities at Camp Duckadang. Sue's love of and care for birds was evident by the large population of human-tolerant lorikeets, galahs, swallows, kookaburras, and other native species that were present around Camp Duckadang. |

During the Astrofest banquet, Amateur Radio Operator and Astronomer Renato Langersek plays a recording he made of his radio communication on early Friday morning with Andy Thomas aboard the International Space Station and STS-114 (Discovery). The ISS - STS-114 passed overhead many times at QLD Astrofest and provided spectacular naked eye and binocular views. A recording of Renato's conversation is accessible here. |
